HAVN Takes Shape: Alpen’s Interior, Skog’s Walls, and a Beautiful Discovery

It’s been a big week at HAVN. Alpen is starting to feel like a home, Skog is taking shape among the trees, and a little clearing revealed one of our favorite natural features on the property so far.

Some of this week’s progress is easy to spot in photos. One of the biggest milestones, though, is something you won’t see when you visit—and that’s exactly how we wanted it.

Underground power, uninterrupted surroundings

Underground power went in across the property this week! This was an intentional part of our design for HAVN, helping us minimize tree cutting and keep the surrounding woods at the center of the experience.

We want you to arrive and feel immersed in nature: trees outside your windows, rock ledges woven into the landscape, and quiet places to settle in outdoors. Choosing underground utilities helps preserve that feeling, without overhead power lines cutting through the view.

It’s a less glamorous construction milestone, but one that supports so much of what we want this retreat to be.

Alpen: The inside is coming together

Alpen got insulation, window trim, and drywall hung this week—a big step toward bringing its warm, alpine-inspired interior to life.

There’s something especially exciting about this stage. With the walls taking shape around the windows, we’re getting a much clearer sense of how each room will feel and how the forest views will become part of the interior.

The warm wood, soft limewash, and cozy finishes are still ahead, but the backdrop for all those details is now in place. We’ve spent so much time imagining these spaces, and it’s exciting to see them become real, one layer at a time.

Skog: Walls up, roof underway

Over at Skog, all the exterior walls are up, ZIP sheathing is on, and the roof is now going in!

Seeing its shape emerge among the trees has been a highlight of the week. Our second cabin will have its own personality, with a nature-inspired, mid-century direction, and this stage brings us closer to seeing how that design will sit within its surroundings.

We also spent time clearing dead and fallen trees around Skog, which revealed an incredibly large and beautiful rock ledge. It’s one of those features that makes you stop what you’re doing and just look for a minute.

The scale and texture are stunning, and seeing more of it exposed has given us a whole new appreciation for this little corner of the property. We’re excited to let the natural landscape help shape the spaces around the cabin.

A little closer each week

Building HAVN means thinking about both the cabins and the experience around them, from what you’ll see through the windows to how the buildings fit among the trees.

This week brought progress on all of it. Finished wall surfaces are getting closer at Alpen, Skog’s roofline is emerging, and the landscape keeps giving us reasons to fall a little more in love with this place.
