About This Property
Skog is Norwegian for forest, which is most of what you'll see from inside it. The cabin sits at the far end of HAVN's 39 acres, past Alpen and past the bend, where the woods close back in. A shed roof lifts toward one tall wall, and that wall is glass nearly corner to corner, you don't look out at the forest so much as sit in it.
Mid-century lines, Nordic restraint, natural materials throughout. Low furniture, warm light, nothing fighting for attention against what's outside.
The land runs uphill from here. A brooks cuts across the front of the property, ledge cliffs sit near the top of the property, and partway between them is the pond we call Cliff Pond, still water with a wall of granite standing behind it. Walk it in the morning, earn the sauna. Cedar heat, cold air on the way to the hot tub, fire pit when you're done, fireplace when it gets late.
HAVN is Norwegian for harbor. Bethel and Sunday River are ten minutes out when you want them, and easy to forget when you don't.
What Makes This Place Special
The Glass Wall.
The shed roof climbs to one tall side, and that side is almost entirely window. Morning light, leaf-out in May, snow coming down in January, it all happens on the other side of the glass.
Tucked Into the Trees.
Of the two cabins at HAVN, Skog is the one set back. Woods pulled in close on three sides and the property climbing away behind it.
Sauna, Hot Tub, Fire.
A cedar sauna, a hot tub under open sky, and a fire pit for after. Sequence them however you like.
Land to Get Lost In.
Follow the brooks up toward the ledge cliffs, or walk down to Cliff Pond and its granite backdrop. Thirty-nine acres, and only one other cabin on them.
The Perfect Location
Skog at HAVN sits in the western Maine mountains, 15-20 minutes from Bethel and just as close to the lifts at Sunday River. Ski or ride in winter, hike and paddle the rest of the year, then head into Bethel for dinner and be back at the fire pit inside twenty minutes. Set back from the road and screened by trees, with the brook running below the deck.

HAVN sits about 500 feet in from Route 26, screened by trees, and Skog is the farthest cabin back. You will hear the road, this is a working western Maine valley, not deep backcountry.
